Commonwealth Games Melbourne 2006

Commonwealth Games Melbourne 2006

These are #photographs from the Commonwealth Games that were held in Melbourne in 2006 and include the Opening Ceremony, from the outside and a night of Athletics at the Melbourne Cricket Ground! (MCC)

James would like us to add that he is not a athletics specialist photographer so these images should be read as a record of a historical occasion and to this end we have left in some movement blur shots that we would usually delete.

Congratulations to Stuart Rendell who won a gold medal in the hammer throw in a Games Record. Obviously we believe, that everyone in Australia with the name Rendell is related to Congrats to a long lost relative!

Thanks to Wayne Ostler for organising this visit to the Athletics! As you can see from the stands there were plenty of seats available!

Above and Below: The Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony from the Banks of the Yarra River.

Above and Below: An extended gallery of images from the Athletics Events at the MCC!

The Gallery, Above, contains a selection of previously unpublished camera proofs for narrative context and your viewing pleasure.
