Valencia and Alarcon Spain 2007

These #photographs are from James' visit to Valencia including the architecture of The City of Arts and Sciences and Alarcon Spain in 2007.

First up the train from Madrid to Valencia is very pleasant and unlike Paris where they only spoke French, the staff at the Madrid Puerta de Atocha were very helpful and efficient.

James travelled from Madrid to Valencia for the weekend while he was studying Spanish at Tandem.

The old world charm of Valencia is a great place to visit and the highlights included the fresh food markets and the view from the Church tower. The beaches are very delightful so put them on your list of things to do!

In contrast with the Old City is The City of Arts and Sciences which is an entertainment, cultural and architectural complex where the buildings are so splendid that they are an exhibit all of their own!

The Galleries below also contain images from Alarcon which was a stop on the drive back to Madrid. This castle town features the abandoned Claridge Hotel which is a magnificent art deco style ruin.

We would like to thank Gus and his family for their kind Hospitality. It was great to be able to experience Valencia with a person who had local knowledge, and a car because you need a car in Valencia if you are staying there for a few days and are wanting to spend time on the very lovely white sand beaches!
