These #photographs are from the Norwegian Road trip from Jostedalsbreen National Park to Flydasjuvet, Gieranger, Hellesylt, Alesund, The Arctic Circle, Trondheim culminating in the Bodo Ferry to Lofoten 2007.
We have decided to follow the camera backup archives rather than calendar days here which is why this archive contains a large number of images. Not having access to power and camping in tents does that!
This was an epic and exhausting drive up the coast of Norway.
Alesund was particularly memorable because James met Astrid an elderly Danish Woman living in Norway who had visited Australia in her youth when Astrid spotted the Australian flag on his backpack. James and Astrid spent a very lovely few hours sharing conversation about life & memories of travels over food and coffee in the cafe where they met and for a number of years James and Astrid exchanged Christmas Cards.
Astrid sent the following quotation to James from Thomas Moore "When time, who steals our years away, Shall steal our pleasures too, The Memory of the past will stay and half our joys renew."
This Gallery is dedicated with Love to Astrid with the message that the memory of the past has stayed and we know Astrid would have been pleased that James did indeed visit her homeland of Denmark.
The Gallery, Above, contains a selection curated camera proofs for narrative context and your viewing pleasure.
