In between the People in Social Pages and Exotic Locations Landscapes are the Wildlife Photographs which are often the hardest of all to capture. The images in this Gallery were taken at Lake Monger in 2002 as part of the coursework for the ECU Graduate Diploma of Communications.
These were taken on one of the first commercially available digital cameras which was difficult to use. The shutter speed and the delay in taking the photograph combined to make the task difficult when compared with modern camera technology.
What makes these images special are the Swans and Geese who are the Stars. Not all of the images are compositionally perfect and in fact only one or two have been reproduced in prior print or website publishing. In this case, the cute factor of the baby Swans plus the story that emerges from the works as a whole is compelling enough to include them all and we hope that our viewers will overlook the minor compositional irregularities.
It's very difficult to get wild animals to stand still for the camera! These lot were not as hard as Seagulls to capture but nevertheless it was very fulfilling to find that the camera struggles had resulted in images of high cuteness.
