These #photographs are from the fabulous landscapes of the South Island of New Zealand and were taken on the 2 - 4 October 2004.
This was another of the great road trips of James' photography career and it was entirely due to the lovely Zoe and Andy who suggested the trip. Their organisation skills were excellent and resulted in a complete whistle top tour of the region that ticked off the bucket list.
We arrived in Christchurch and hired a car and drove up to the Marlborough Region stopping in Blenheim for Berry picking, lunch at the Villa Maria Vineyard onto Picton for a Boat Cruise and ending up at the famous Furneaux Lodge and a meal of fresh crayfish.
The images below include The Queen Charlotte Walking Track at Anakiwa, Mistletoe Bay, Ship's Cove where we visited Captain Cook's monument. Sunday night was spent in the very freezing cold Christchurch we were told that we could not wear our beanies inside the venues tho mini skirts and little else were fine.
The Banks Peninsula is a very handy short drive from Christchurch and so it's place to go for lunch on the way to the airport! The Banks Peninsula has a French influence that is somewhat touristy but the bakeries selling pastries are very fine.
We would like to thank Andy and Zoe for being splendid company and excellent organisers. It's probably best to have a bit more time in the region but it was the middle of winter and there were planes to catch in Auckland for Andy and Zoe and school books to finish reading for James.
The Gallery, Above, contains a selection of colour edited images and below are the curated camera proofs for narrative context and your viewing pleasure.
