North Island New Zealand 2004

North Island New Zealand 2004

These #photographs are from the North Island in New Zealand from 2004 and they include images from Northland, the Bay of Islands, Waitangi, Keri Keri & Uretiki Beach.

Kerikeri is the largest town in the Northland region and it is the place where the Garage flax weaving studio operated by Mike Freeman was located. We hope you enjoy the flax weaving studio images which we are publishing here for the first time. The garden pictures contain are very vibrant colours and it's amazing what a milder climate and rich soil will do for plants.

James enjoyed very much learning about flax and wishes that flax would grow in Western Australia's harsh climate! We thank Mike and Russell for their kind hospitality! You will see many images that seem to be duplicates but look harder and you will see very lovely birds which can be very elusive.

The Bay of Islands has a car ferry so that was an excellent adventure and there are plenty of beautiful beaches to enjoy if the weather is sunny. The drive to Northlands is very comfortable if you have a car and make sure you stop on the way back at Uretiki Beach which is marvellous. You could spend a whole day there in summer!

The Galleries, Above, contains a selection of curated camera proofs along with some colour corrected images for narrative context and your viewing pleasure.
