These #photographs were taken in Amsterdam in The Netherlands on the 9th to the 11th of June 2004.
Amsterdam, especially in 2004, was/is one of the jewels in the garden of Europe. The old world architecture is particularly elegant and the relaxed friendly culture with an easy to walk around city layout, has made it feel safe and accessible to travellers so much so that James has visited 4 times.
The photographs on this page were collected during James' second visit to Amsterdam. He first went to Amsterdam via channel ferry in 1990 and the last two times in 2007. On this visit James stayed at the Freeland Hotel and on subsequent visits he stayed at the Amistad Hotel at Kerkstraat 42 who, in 2004, offered guests a private canal tour that was most excellent.
Don't forget to check out the Museums including the Van Gogh Art Museum and James' favourite was Foam an international and multifaceted photography museum whose website states: We connect different views, visions and perspectives that invite everyone to explore".
Finally, beware to sip slowly when sampling the delights of the Coffee Shops the coffee can be rather strong if you are not used to it. The Other Side is one that James says he was particularly fond of because it was an easy walking distance, without getting lost, to get back to the Hotel!

The Galleries, Above, each contain a selection of curated camera proofs for narrative context and your viewing pleasure.
Golden Age canals lined by slender gabled buildings spanned by arched bridges are the backdrop for Amsterdam's treasure making Amsterdam one of the beautiful and charming cities of the world.
Amsterdam is a city shaped by water. The best way to appreciate it's Canal Ring is from a boat, passing through the canals themselves. This is a delight at any time – but particularly beautiful at night, when the waters’ ripples reflect the city’s twinkling lights.
The Rijksmuseum is among the world's finest art museums. With over 1.5km of galleries, it packs in around 8000 artworks with paintings by Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh, as well as plenty of other masterpieces.
