Quilt Art Exhibition Perth Concert Hall 2005

Quilt Art Exhibition Perth Concert Hall 2005

The last time the Australian AIDS Quilt was displayed before it was donated by the HIV Community for permanent display at Sydney's Powerhouse Museum was at the Exhibition at the Prestigious Perth Concert Hall in 2005.

Each of the Panels brought to Western Australia had a direct link to a Person who had Passed Away from AIDS connected to Western Australia and a very moving and meaningful unfolding of the Quilt was done by People Living with HIV/AIDS WA, their families and loved ones.

The WA Minister For Health, The Hon. Jim McGinty accepted the Organiser's invitation to officially open the Exhibition and fully catered cocktail party which was attended by many well known Perth Identities including now Senator Louise Pratt, (former) WA Greens MP Giz Watson, Hollywood from the Perth Sunday Times, Glenda & George Rendell from the Friends of the WA AIDS Memorial Group, Judy Nemer, Perth Bears and the Perth LGBTI Pagan Group.

The Event was very well received by the Community and Trish Langdon, the (former) CEO of WAAC, thanked OPI Perth for their hard work organising the event in her speech.

The Quilt Exhibition was combined with a Display of Fine Art made by Artists from Western Australiaand this included the work of James Rendell from CADT Photography. The Event featured Fire Dancers and a Recital on the Grand Piano by Paul Hayter.

The Gallery, Above, contains a selection of colour edited images with the curated camera proofs for narrative context and your viewing pleasure.
