Lady Bay NSW 2003

Lady Bay NSW 2003

These #photographs were taken during several visits to Lady Bay Beach in NSW in September 2003 and they include views of the city, the harbour heads and the beaches.

The Gallery, Above, contains a selection of colour edited images and below are the curated camera proofs for narrative context.

If you are travelling in Sydney without a car then you can catch a bus in the City that will take you to the beach. On one of these occasions James had a hire car which while convenient for travel does present issues with parking which is in short supply especially on a hot day. Don't leave valuables in your car.

We would also like to say something about one of our models seen in this photo set. James met Scotty when James was living temporarily in Sydney after completing University and joining the annual WA brain drain to the East Coast!

"I have always remembered Scotty and it was great to spend quality time with him during the Spring of 2003. Scotty indulged my photographic obsessions and so together we jumped on ferries from Darling Harbour, We jumped on the bus and went out to the beach, We walked around Sydney where I collected images of Sydney life. Where I was more introverted or serious, Scotty was outgoing, lively and he had a sense of humour that meant he made us laugh a lot.

I remember Scotty as being kind, generous and I never saw any aggression or violence from him and even tho he can be seen in photographs wearing my stuff he never stole from me! We met in the days before social media platforms so my travelling made keeping in touch impossible but I have often thought of Scotty and thanked God for him and prayed that he has had a good life, where ever he ended up.

... On the first of my many great road trips, I travelled up to Byron Bay by train and hired a car to drive around and decided to drive back to Sydney along the coast. I rang Scotty and he was only too happy to meet me in Newcastle and we drove back to Sydney and onto the beach, when his pictures here were taken, as the car had time on the hire contract!"
